Performance

My Dad’s a straight talking, no nonsense engineer. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out his parenting style.

When I got my first car, a bit of advice, well not so much advice, more instruction, was never let the fuel light come on. If it’s on, means crap in the tank is now being pumped around the system, impacting performance.

That ‘advice’ makes me think about how many times we let our light come on.

After all, we’re not an 81 Hillman Avenger. We’re priceless, one of a kind. That light comes on & we’re pumping crap around our system & limiting our performance. We need to keep putting fuel in our tank.

Each day we expand energy physically & mentally. But how many times have you skipped breakfast & lunch, not moved from your table going from zoom to teams & back again? Snacking on a chocolate bar with the odd cup of coffee? This isn’t going to refuel you. Do it for a week & your light will be on.

You wouldn’t put chocolate & coffee in a Ferrari. So why do it to something that’s worth so much more? You.

Make an effort to replenish your fuel tank, the physical & the mental one. Whatever gives you energy, makes you feel good, invigorates you, do it.

When it comes to your body & mind, it’s better to keep that light off.
